Severn Oaks Farm
Located near the Severn River, north of Annapolis, Maryland, Severn Oaks Farm was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Iliff in 1947 with the purchase of a Section A Welsh mare, Coed Coch Ebrill (Revolt x Coed Coch Eirlys), one of the few available for sale in this country at that time. In 1948, Miss Brodrick of the Coed Coch stud in Wales gathered 9 mares for Dr. Iliff for importation to Maryland. Several of these mares (Coed Coch Pansi, Coed Coch Serog, Coed Coch Morfa, and Criban Waaf), with Ebrill, became the foundation breeding herd for Severn Oaks.
Today, the Severn stud continues to breed quality Section A Welsh Ponies under the management of Dr. Iliff's daughter, Tiz Benedict. There are usually about 25 ponies on the farm with 2-7 foals born annually.
Visitors are always welcome.
